Pre-Registration: Please
carefully read this section and the sections below on Meals and
Lodging before going to the
Pre-Registration
Form . Please use this pre-registration form, NOT the one in the
NES/MAA Spring 2004 Newsletter, as some updates and clarifications have been
added.
On-line registration is NOT
available. However, you can print out the form and mail it to Bruce Burdick
at the address on the form. Please pre-register!
You may register at the meeting if you wish;
however, it would help to plan the meeting if you pre-register by mail and it
will save you money in that on-site registration fees are five dollars more
than pre-registration fees. Spouses and guests are welcome at all meals.
Meals cannot be guaranteed unless reservations are
received by May 28, 2004. Dormitory housing on the Bristol campus cannot
be guaranteed unless reservations are received by May 28, 2004.
Reservations for housing on the Portsmouth campus should be made directly with
the Conference Center (see below), not by using the Pre-Registration Form.
Also, since there is a limited amount of housing available at the Conference
Center, those interested should call the Conference Center as soon as
possible.
If you have questions about registrations issues, you can contact Bruce Burdick by email,
bburdick@rwu.edu, or by phone, (401) 254-3463 .
From May 13-31, please use email, as Bruce will be off-campus during that
period and his phone messages will be deleted after 10 days.
- Meals
All meals will be buffet-style. However, in order to help in
planning, we ask you to indicate on the Pre-Registration form whether you
require vegetarian options. There are two meals that are part of the meeting
program, the Banquet Friday evening at $12.00 per person and the
Saturday luncheon at $10.00 per person. Also, a Saturday breakfast is
available at $6.00 per person. Participants staying at the Residence &
Conference Center do not need to buy a separate Saturday breakfast ticket as
the cost for those rooms includes a continental breakfast. However, the
price for dormitory rooms on the Bristol campus does NOT include breakfast.
- Lodging
- On-campus housing
There are two options for on-campus housing, hotel-style accommodations
at the Residence & Conference Center on RWU's
Portsmouth Campus and dormitory arrangements on the Bristol campus.
Reservations for rooms at the Residence & Conference Center should be made by
calling the Conference Center directly (see the next paragraph). You can
NOT reserve rooms at the Conference Center using our Pre-Registration Form,
but you can reserve dormitory rooms on the Bristol campus using the
Pre-Registration Form.
Rooms at the Residence & Conference Center should be reserved by
calling the Conference Center directly at
401-683-3600; you will need to have your credit card
when you call. The cost
is $79 per night, single or double, plus a 13% hotel tax, payable upon
check-in. You should indicate when you call that you are part of the MAA
group in order to receive this rate. The price for these rooms includes a continental breakfast. Please note that these
on-campus accommodations are NOT within walking distance of the meeting rooms.
Also, there are only a limited number of these rooms.
Directions to the Portsmouth Campus
Dormitory rooms on the Bristol Campus can be reserved using the
Pre-Registration Form for our meeting; it is not necessary to call.
These rooms are just a short walk from the meeting rooms that we will be
using. The cost is $74 per night for a single and $88 per night for a
double, plus a 7% sales tax. This works out to $79.18 per night for a
single, and $94.16 for a double. Breakfast is NOT included in these
prices, but you may preregister for breakfast on the Pre-Registration Form.
Directions to the Bristol campus
If you have other questions about on-campus housing, you can contact Bruce Burdick by email,
bburdick@rwu.edu, or by phone, (401) 254-3463 . From May 13-31, please use
email, as Bruce will be off-campus during that period and his phone
messages will be deleted after 10 days.

Local Hotel Accommodations Roger Williams University also
keeps on its website a list of local hotels and bed & breakfasts.
If you wish off-campus accommodations, you will need to make those
arrangements directly with the hotel or bed & breakfast. There are
no special rates. There is a big soccer event at the University of Rhode
Island that weekend, so hotel space may be hard to find.
-
Campus Map for the Bristol Campus The meeting rooms will be on the
Bristol campus, which is Roger Williams' main campus.
-
Travel directions to the Bristol campus According to our local
arrangements committee, some of the directions on the website could be
improved.
In the directions "From Boston", instead of "Take Mt. Hope Bridge/Bristol
exit. Bear right up hill and cross Mt. Hope Bridge.", substitute "Take
Mt. Hope Bridge/Bristol exit and turn right at the end of the ramp.
Bear right at the first light and cross Mt. Hope Bridge."
In the directions "From Albany, NY and points west", insert " After you
merge onto I-95 from Route 146, you have about a mile or so to get over into
the left lane to take Exit 20 for I-195."
- Parking for the Meeting
During the summer, parking at RWU is basically unrestricted. Signs
specifying a certain color sticker can be ignored. There is a new
parking lot that on the large
Campus Map (Bristol Campus) roughly corresponds
to the green space to the north of building 1and to the east of building 16.
This lot is convenient to both the meeting space and the dormitory we expect
to use on the Bristol campus.
